The After Cilmeri Series

“Sarah Woodbury is my new favorite author. Daughter of Time reminds me of Outlander and 1632, with a fresh twist. I read all the books in the After Cilmeri series in four days! Long after I finished the last book, the stories and characters stayed in my mind, and I kept wishing I could return the world Sarah so skillfully created. I can’t wait for the next book and the next …”  Debra Holland, New York Times bestselling author of the Montana Sky Series.

Daughter of Time (Prequel)

A medieval man with an uncertain destiny, Llywelyn, the Prince of Wales, faces treachery and deceit at the hands of friends and foes alike …

A modern woman with a troubled past, Meg’s life is in tatters when she slips through time and into medieval Wales …

Only by working together can Meg and Llywelyn navigate the shifting allegiances that threaten the very existence of Wales–and create their own history that defies the laws of time.

Daughter of Time is appropriate for readers from young teens to adults and is a prequel to the After Cilmeri series.

**A note from Sarah: I am so happy to be able to share with you this prequel to the After Cilmeri series. I created Footsteps in Time and Prince of Time first, and only wrote Daughter of Time after so many readers wanted to know how the story began. Meg’s journey is continued in Footsteps in Time and Winds of Time, a novella that is meant to be a companion to the series. Happy reading!

Footsteps in Time (Book One)

In December of 1282, English soldiers ambushed and murdered Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the Prince of Wales.  His death marked the end of Wales as an independent nation and the beginning of over seven hundred years under the English boot.

Footsteps in Time is the story of what might have happened had Llywelyn lived.

And what happens to the two teenagers who save him.

Winds of Time (A Novella)

Winds of Time is novella from the After Cilmeri series:

Meg had thought that taking a commuter flight from Pasco, Washington to Boise, Idaho would be a simple matter. But nothing is simple for Meg when it comes to travel, and especially not when she finds herself in the Middle Ages again instead of in a plane crash on a mountain side in Oregon.

And when the pilot takes off without her in a quest to return to the twenty-first century, Meg will need every last bit of maturity and knowledge she gained in the sixteen years she spent in the modern world—-to survive even a day in this one.

**A note from Sarah:  This story was started many years ago, as part of Footsteps in Time.  When it came down to it, however, the story didn’t fit with what was happening with David and Anna, and had to be put aside.  Happily, I am now able to share, in ebook form, the story of Meg’s return to the Middle Ages.  Thus, Winds of Time takes place between Part 1 and Part 2 of Footsteps in Time, Book One in the After Cilmeri Series.  I think you will enjoy Winds of Time more if you read Footsteps in Time first.  Diolch yn fawr (thank you)!

Prince of Time (Book Two)

Two teenagers are catapulted back in time to alter history and save the medieval kingdom of Wales…

David and his man-at-arms, Ieuan, find themselves alone and on the run from a company of English soldiers who’ve sworn vengeance for the recent death of their king.  Meanwhile, Llywelyn lays on his deathbed, wounded by a traitor’s arrow.  And once again, it is David and Anna, and all that they represent, that holds the key to the survival of Wales.

Crossroads in Time (Book Three)

Three years have passed since the events chronicled in Prince of Time …

Anna has made a place for herself in thirteenth century Wales as a wife, mother, and healer.  David has taken more of the kingdom’s rule on his shoulders, even as his relationship with Lili has caused friction with his father, King Llywelyn.  The King wants his son to seek a political marriage that will benefit his country—and possibly place the crown of England on David’s head.

England and Wales have shared a border and an uneasy peace for three long years.

And that peace is about to be broken …

Children of Time (Book Four)

November 1288. Bereft of a king or rightful heir, England hurtles towards civil war for the second time in a generation. When David, Prince of Wales, and his wife, Lili, travel to London to attend the wedding of William de Bohun and Princess Joan, they have no intention of involving themselves in local politics.

But as infighting leads to murder, David and Lili find themselves at the center of a far-reaching conspiracy. Trapped between history and legend, they must decide how much they are willing to sacrifice to save not only their own country, but the people of England as well.

Meanwhile, back in Wales, Llywelyn and Meg discover that time is no barrier to either adventure or trouble.

I very much wanted the book available directly from retailers besides Amazon and Google Play, but none of them are set up to sell high quality, fixed, photograph heavy epubs. Fortunately, all color tablets, smartphones, and computers support both PDFs from Google Play/Books and Kindle apps. I didn’t want to sell readers a book that I wasn’t happy with 🙂 Hopefully everyone can find a product that works for them!

  1. Hi, having received Champions of time, I read it very quickly as usual.
So now I’ve just finished reading the whole series again.
I was also one who was recommended by reading Outlander. I love the too and fro from both times.
Your research is excellent, thank you. I do enjoy reading your books. Your characterisation is so well done.
I will now start reading more of your series.

  2. Is champions ment to be the final book in this series? It feels like its wrapped up in a way it could end. Even though there is clearly more unanswered questions now… Thanx 🙂

      1. Is there a foreseeable date for an audible version? I really prefer them personally. Can’t read and type at the same time;)

        1. It should be very soon! I will let everyone know (if you are signed up for my newsletter or my Facebook page), just as soon as is it available!

  3. Hi Sarah Woodbury, have written you before and am always so grateful that you really answer your fans comments! It is so interesting talking with you! As I have posted before, I was recommended to your books on an Outlander site with Diana Gabaldon! Someone suggested that those of us waiting for the series to start or another book, “Droughtlander”, should try reading one of your books! I went right away and got the first one (free) from Amazon! I read it completely that night and ordered the next one…and so on and so on until I had them all! I fell in love with the After Cilmeri series immediately! So looking forward to tonight at midnight for Champions of Time to come out as I Pre-Ordered it months ago! I know it is going to be as good as the others in this series! Thanks so much and Blessings to you and yours, Tari

  4. I’ve been an avid reader of suspense, paranormal and romance and I bought the Pendragon vol 1&2 when it first came out as a combo,in Hardback. It is exactly the genre I enjoy the most, and your version is very satisfying!I found your Cilmeri by accident, in a 10 book set and sad to finish it! So, I was delighted to get Cold My Heart and your Gwen & Garth series! The switch off of characters and forum keeps your plots fresh and I’m always eagerly awaiting your latest additions! Unfortunately for me, I’m a speed reader and due to an illness that keeps me nearly bedfast,I finish each in 2-3 days!! So,if you feel pressured to deliver another new, exciting book, you are!! You’re an excellent author and project a view of Medieval Life and human interactions as it was and Thank You for sharing your expertise! 😉

    1. I’m sorry that you are stuck in bed, but happy that you have read my books! It’s readers like you who make my job the best in the world!

And by the way, if you read the Cilmeris in the bundle, there are two more novels since then, with the next one coming out on May 13 (for a total of 14 novels and one novella).

  5. I am in love with these books. Already on my second read through and counting the weeks until the next one comes out. When I first started reading them I knew nothing about Wales or welsh history and now I’m very interested. A little over a year later, I’ve actually ended up on a house sitting assignment in Abergavenny, Wales for a month with my sister. I just got her hooked. We’re binge readers so she’s already gobbled up the first and onto the second within two days. I’m so happy( and a little jealous) that she gets to actually be in Wales her first time reading the series. Thank you so much for writing these books. I never want them to end.

  6. I love your “After Cilmeri” books and have read all of them many times now (before I read a new one, I go back and read the previous ones again). Since I am an avid reader about medieval England, I have read much about Edward I and have never liked the guy. I prefer your version or world, so to speak. Thank You for all the enjoyment and please hurry up with the next book.

    1. I am so happy you’ve enjoyed the books. And I can tell you that the next one is in the works. If you’ve signed up for my mailing list (top of the page), I will notify you as soon as it’s available for preorder!

  7. Quick question about future books in this series: After all they went through together in “Outpost in Time”, is there any chance Christopher and Aine might end up together in a future volume?

  8. I listen to Audiobooks and have just finished your After Cilmeri Series and loved it. Can’t wait for the next book. My only wish is that my local library carried them in Audio. They have cost me a fortune on Audible but were well worth it!

    1. I wish they carried my audiobooks too! I’m so glad you have enjoyed them, however. When the next After Cilmeri book comes out (later this year) PM me and I’ll send you a free code at Audible for the book 🙂

      1. I have been trying to preorder the audible version of champions and can’t find it! I’m sad I won’t be able to hear it tomorrow when its released!

        1. I’m sorry. The Audible version won’t be available on the day the book is released. But if you are signed up for my mailing list, I will let you know as soon as it is!

    1. Just finished the last of Climeri series.
Riveted from book Daughter of time to Shades of time.
Please don’t keep us hanging too long for the next one.

      1. I am so glad you’ve enjoyed the books! And I have no intention of leaving you hanging long … the next book really is coming!

  9. Just wanted to say thank you for being one of the few authors willing to keep their stories “clean” (no unnecessary explicit details) and yet the stories are so engaging and I feel swept into another place and time! You also manage to keep the battle scenes interesting yet not too gruesome. Thank you for such wonderful storytelling. I will continue to read your series!

  10. Hi Sarah,
I cant wait for the next book to come out. I love every book in the series.
I reccomend you and your books to all of my friends and family.

  11. I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a captivating series. I absolutely love this series! I have all of them and can’t wait for the next one. You are fast becoming my favorite author. I haven’t started the other series you have written but I already started downloading some of them. I have no doubt that I will love them.

  12. I absolutely love these books! Can’t wait for the next one to be out! I’m truly hoping that some of the other kids get to travel like their parents, I think Cadell would be a good idea to send to Avalon! ?

    1. I’m so glad you loved the book! You can ask that your library buys them–most are cash-strapped these days but they will buy books if patrons ask. All of my books are available for library purchase in ebook and paperback 🙂

  13. Hi Sara
I have read all the climeri series1-12 loved all finished shades of time just today hope book 13 coming soon
I HAVE been so enthralled with this series
Can’t wait for the next book.
Your writing is brilliant these are the first books I have read by you.
    Thanks Me Dale

  14. Hi Sarah

I’m hoping you can help me out. I purchased your “After Cilmeri”, “Gareth and Gwen Medieval Mysteries” and “Last Pendragon Saga” sreies from Kobo. Could you please advise if these series were republished with new publisher or updated that would make these books show that I need to repurchase the same books? I spoke to Kobo about these not being updated and they advised that “the author has either had these books updated with new publisher or ISBN#”. I can’t see any note on the books that this series was updated as new.
If you can please let me know, I can then go back to Kobo to get these books updated in my library.
Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you soon so that I can get this fixed.

    1. Hmmm. None of the After Cilmeri books or the Gareth & Gwen mysteries have been changed from their original content, so if you bought Footsteps in Time 5 years ago, it is the same book (except for a few typo fixes) now. They have had new covers, some multiple times, but the interior book is the same. If you got any of the books before 2014 from Kobo, then I did switch from one distributor to go directly to Kobo in late 2014, which would have meant getting a new ISBN. That may be what they’re referring to.

The exception is The Last Pendragon Saga, which started out as two 100,000 word novels. Three years ago, those original novels published in 2011 were reedited and divided up into 6 novellas. I have since written two more short novels to finish out the series. If you did buy them before 2014, then you should pick up The Last Pendragon Saga volume 3, which is just the bundle of the last two novellas.

  15. I don’t remember Arthur time traveling. Shades of time refers to Arthur time traveling to Avalon. Which book did that happen in?
