Crossroads in Time released! No foolin' 🙂 - Sarah Woodbury

Crossroads in Time released! No foolin’ :)

I am so excited to share with everyone my new book, Crossroads in Time, the third book in the After Cilmeri series.  Four and a half years in the making, I began it soon after I finished Prince of Time.  Life intervened in the writing process, however, and I only returned to it in 2011.  And had to delete everything I’d written up until then and start over 🙂

As a side note, I have only realized as I type this that I began this book again just a few weeks after the death of my father at the far too young age of 68.  And maybe that’s why Crossroads in Time is a story so close to my heart.  It’s meant to be FUN.  A fun, romantic read, following the adventures of David and Anna and their family and companions.  At the same time, it is also a story about parents, and children, and expectations, and honor and love, and all those things I’ve written into all of my books, but came to me so clearly in this one.  I love this book.  I hope you do to.  It is available in paperback and ebook in all formats.

Crossroads in Time

Three years have passed since the events chronicled in Prince of Time …

Anna has made a place for herself in thirteenth century Wales as a wife, mother, and healer.  David has taken more of the kingdom’s rule on his shoulders, even as his relationship with Lili has caused friction with his father, King Llywelyn.  The King wants his son to seek a political marriage that will benefit his country—and possibly place the crown of England on David’s head.

England and Wales have shared a border and an uneasy peace for three long years.

And that peace is about to be broken …

Crossroads in Time is available now!  Buy at  Amazon  Amazon UK  Smashwords  Paperback

It should arrive by May 1 at all other venues.  Meanwhile for Nook/Apple/Sony users, Crossroads in Time can be downloaded in epub format at Smashwords.

  1. Hi Sarah,

I read Footsteps in Time yesterday in about five or six hours on my Kindle for PC app on my laptop and I loved it. My favourite character is the young David, he’s so bright and adorable. Nice depiction of the boar hunt and the emotions experienced by little David, I could almost hear the dogs barking and felt I was in the thick of things, I was convinced I tasted the adrenaline. Anna’s journey with the baby, stable boy and wet nurse was so dangerous, I felt the fear prickle my spine each step of the way. Don’t stop writing, it is your God-given gift!

  2. I loved Daughter of Time and was so totally hooked I couldn’t put down my laptop (I read it on Kindle for PC all through a night and two days, had to take frequent breaks to do my chores in the real world)but felt heart-broken at the end for Meg and Llewelyn. It’s the first time I have read anything written by Sarah Woodbury. I was delighted to see that there were other books in the After Cilmeri series. Now I want to read all your books! Truly entertaining with a lovely style of writing. You are a gifted author who surely know how to capture your reader’s attention from the very first paragraph.

  3. I still didn’t get an answer for the first question on my
    post on June 15.

Is it one of those plot details that can’t be revealed?

Whatever it is, I’m dying to read the next book in the series.

Thank you for writing these books!

    1. I’m sorry … yes it is one of those plot points! I’m so glad you love these books. It is readers like you who make my day, every day.

Madoc ap Owain was an illegitimate son.

David was descended, through Llywelyn ap Iorwerth (Llywelyn Fawr) his great-grandfather, from Rhodri Mawr, the great King of Gwynedd. Hywel Dda was Rhodri’s grandson, but King of Powys. If David is descended from Hywel Dda as well as Rhodri Mawr, it is through a complicated series of marriages that I can’t quite follow at the moment 🙂

  4. Was Madoc ap Owain Gwnydded an illegtimate son ?

And also, was David’s family (his father’s side) descended from
    Hywel Dda?

  5. One last question:

Is the series going to stay entirely in Wales or is it going to expand, going int other countries as the power of the Welsh Crown grows?

And considering the Knights Templar came from Cistercian roots, I wouldn’t be surprised if they supporttd Wales.

    1. That is true they came from Cistercian roots. From what I can tell, however, the Templars were very much associated with the Normans, and the Welsh had little to do with them … see my post coming on Sunday 🙂

  6. One question is really nibbling at me:
Are the Knights Templar going to be shown in the series?

After all, they had a pretty big impact on the medieval world, and in the real world, it would be sometime before they would be convicted of heresy and destroyed.

    1. Nobody has asked me that before, but you’ve just given me my blog post for tomorrow 🙂 I won’t say yes or no for a book that’s not finished …

  7. Did I miss a book? It seems that leuan went forward in time met and brought back with him in time, Bronwen. In crossroads of time pages 10, 25, 28 and 32 are pretty clear that Bronwen is an American who came back with leuan, yet I can’t find a title that is about leuan’s travel. Is this a future book?

  8. Thank you. It’s a relief to have my guess confirmed because I was going nuts about where Owain disappeared to. Is the next one the last one of the series, or are there any more after the next one?

Also, de Bohun’s father is mentioned to have died of his wounds during the Baronial War. But he himself states that Edward is directly, not indirectly responsible for his death, implying Edward killed him himself. So which one is correct?

Also, will we see a lot more of Gwenll. and Aaron and Aaron’s son Samuel in the last book? Their presences were kind of muted down in this book.

Thank you for reading my post!

    1. I have more than one book planned, provided the reception for them continues to go well. And if a character has a role to play in the book, I want to do him/her justice and forward the plot. But I don’t want to give away the plot here when the release of the book is so far out … please understand!

The actual history is that Bohun’s father died of his wounds at Evesham, while imprisoned. Humphrey blames Edward directly but Edward didn’t actually murder him, or stab him on the battlefield (as far as we know, anyway). You can imagine the scene, however, with father and son locked up after the battle and the father dying and not being treated as the son thought he should … He would blame Edward.

  9. I just finished reading all 4 books. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. I can’t wait until the next book is released. When do you expect to publish it?

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed the series. You made my day 🙂
I intend to publish the next in the series in early 2013, but if you sign up on my email list, I’ll let you know more as it gets closer. Thank you so much!

  10. When Owain, David’s captain, dies in beginning of the book (from the excerpt given, of course), is he the same Owain who was David’s best friend when they were training together at Castell y Bere in Footsteps of Time. If it is, I’m glad he had one last horaay before disappearing from the stage.

Also, was Edward 2 murdered or did he simply die of smallpox?

    1. It’s nice that you remembered him fondly.

The Edward II thread will continue in the next book. Can’t say more than that just now …

    1. Thank you so MUCH for commenting on my blog on what you found.

Of course, you are absolutely correct. What you discovered in Crossroads in Time is a continuity error (otherwise known as a mistake). Those sentences should read: “Lili’s mother had died giving birth at an age only a few years older than Lili was now. Her father had left them not long after.”

If you (or anyone reading this who bought Crossroads in Time in the first 10 days it was released) would like an updated version, please email me and I will send it to you. I am so grateful to have such caring and dedicated readers–and thank you for taking the time to ask me about this. How lucky am I to be an independent author and have the ability to make the correction by the time you read this.

As to your other questions … I’d love to share with you the plot of the next book, but it’s probably better not to. I hope you understand!

  11. I need to know about three things:

In Ch.15, Lili remembers the pain her father’s death caused, only a few years after her mother’s. How can that be? She and Ieaun never really shared a close relationship with their father(granted, that might be only Ieaun’s case) and he was still alive at the end of Prince of Time.

Two, will there be any more actual time travel or more modern technology revealed to the medieval people( like to see de Clare’s and Bohun’s eyes popping at that)in the final book.

And three, will we ever see Christopher(David’s and Anna’s cousin) again? It seemed he and David had a very close relationship.

  12. I just discovered and thoroughly enjoyed your After Cilmeri series. What a great storyline! I look forward to more! I know it will take a while. In the meantime, I have more of your books to catch up on, it seems. 🙂

  13. I LOVE this series! Since Harry Potter ended, I haven’t read a single good fiction book. A big problem since i am an avid reader of both non-fiction and fiction. i like it partly because David is a lot like me (good at math, friendly, good-hearted,innovative, and sometimes bordering on the edge of arrogance). So I can’t wait until the next book is published.
Do you have an approximate date when it will be out?

    1. So glad you loved the series! Given that Crossroads in Time was just released, the next book in the series won’t be available for a while–I would guess early 2013. Sorry you have to wait so long, but books take time to write 🙂

    1. I’m so glad you love my books! … if you’ve already read Crossroads in Time, I’m afraid you have a bit of a wait, but it looks like there’s more to the story, so yes …
